Introduction
QuantrolOx is building automated machine learning based control software for quantum technologies to tune, stabilise, and optimise qubits.
Challenge
QuantrolOx decided to build a brand-new product development & client delivery team in Finland. This team would consist of an experienced team lead, two machine learning specialists, and two software engineers.
Due to the nature of the business, and the high quality of operations, each position requires deep technical abilities and knowledge. In addition, requirements include skills in statistics, machine learning, data analytics, and software development.
These skills are very hard to find in today’s talent market, and the most capable talents don’t have to seek new opportunities actively. Therefore, they must be sourced and contacted using modern recruitment methods.
What made the situation even more challenging for QuantrolOx, was that they were after an entire team of these top professionals.
So, even though they recognized their recruitment process as well functioning, the customer also realized that as a small organization, they don’t have enough time and resources to find and contact the potential candidates.
That’s when modern recruitment services provided by Northstar Talent came into play.
Solution
For QuantrolOx’s need, we offered a solution called Talent Sourcing as a Service. It is a service where our consultants take care of the most time-consuming and often the most challenging part of recruitment – the initial part of attracting talent. In practice, this consists of sourcing candidates from different channels and making the first contact.
With QuantrolOx, we agreed on a process where we search for suitable candidates and contact them. Then, we introduced to the Client those who were the right fit and interested in discussing more. The Client then continued the recruitment process by conducting interviews and coding tests.
We agreed on a three-month project with the Client. Our goal was to find enough suitable candidates so QuantrolOx could pick five highly skilled individuals for the team.
Results
Despite today’s challenging talent market and the highly demanding requirements for each role, the project was an outstanding success and with QuantrolOx, we found all the needed professionals in time.
The team’s total headcount had grown from zero to five at the project’s end, and QuantrolOx’s brand-new product development & client delivery team now consists of:
Learnings
Having been given the trust to be the partner in this very significant recruitment project meant we had high demands and expectations to fill. Especially when building this kind of team from scratch in three months is not an easy task.
On the other hand, we were delighted that QuantrolOx was very committed to handling their part, making the process flow smoothly, and making the recruitment decisions without too much hesitation.
